Virginia and DC friends.

I will be in scenic Fairfax, Virginia for the next week (starting tomorrow morning) for training. I have rented a corporate apartment style suite for myself for the week since my work was too cheap to do so (did I mention that I'm thinking about getting a new job?). I decided it was worth saving 3-4 hours a day driving to just rent it, and I plan to defer the cost (and even make a profit) by doing freelance work during the time I would have been driving.

Anyway, if you are someone I rarely get to hang out with because you live down there and I live up here... let's get dinner or something.

Aren't you a David Lynch fan? You should come see Inland Empire at my theater, it's only playing for 5 more days.

    what theater is that?
brad [email] said at 9:47 PM 01-21-2007:
      Julie's Megaplex & Drafthouse.

I think you'd be disappointed with Inland Empire.

yeah it sounds kinda not so awesome. im sure i will see it eventually, but maybe in the comfort of my own home. it was shot with a prosumer dv cam, i believe, so i'm not really missing anything by skipping the big screen.

There were some pretty stunning visuals, actually -- there were also some not so stunning, home-movie-like shots, mainly in the beginning. The main problem I had with it is that it leads you on to believe there's a story only to become a jumbled incoherent mess. Mulholland Drive was plenty cryptic, and you might not get it all right away, but there was clearly a story, and it was easy to identify the themes. It was hard to care about any of the characters in Inland Empire, because I didn't understand their relationships or what they were going through. It was all covered in such a thick subconscious muck that it just left me annoyed and dismissive instead of pensive and curious.

You'll be here Mon-Fri? Friday would probably be best for me. I have acting class Thursday, but the other days might be fine too - I've been finishing work pretty early.

I get out of work at 730 PM every night this week (in Courthouse), so if you feel like getting a drink/dinner, that's cool. I can even show you my missing tooth. I know how exciting that will be for you.
