My new obsession...

Okay, so I'm totally obsessed with this new drum beat. I know it sounds weird. An example for you drum nerds out there, this beat can be heard on track 3 & 4 on this album...

&

on track 10 on this album

If you ain't got these yet, it is time.
DMZ = amazing! for real!
any fans out there of these bands? This stuff is a pretty recent discovery of mine.

Anyone recommend some new tunes for me in a similar vein...?

As it so happens, my crush is in a band & the drummer does a similar beat... you can hear it here... coming soon to the Black Cat!

Adam Helltone and I used to listen to the Mummies and the Monomen. I get drumbeat obsessed too.

DMZ? I'm curious...the self-titled has just been re-released...awesome album cover I've noticed.

you should TOTALLY check out DMZ. And report back to me! :)

Also if you live in NYC or Richmond, Hollywood cemetery is soon coming your way too!

Who doesn't need some good old rocknroll?!

I will. Perhaps Adam has played them and I haven't paid attention. I seem to stick to beats and rhythm when I talk music with him.

Oddly, I don't even hear lyrics in songs much. Doesn't matter the song or genre, I tend to never remember them.

check out supercharger! they were my fave trashpunk band on, ooh, i fear estrus, but that was 10 years ago... they suck skillswise, but are real sloppy and funny like the mummies.

the gories shred, and with one of the few black dudes in punk.
also, everything new on goner records is good. email zac on their site and asks for recs, and he will hooook you up.

and ceratinly you dig radio birdman, bros in country with dmz, if not sound so much.

you ever check out those "bloodstains across..." comps? they have em for a bunch of euro countries. rare treasures from bands that pretty much had one rad and dirty 7 inch. but then you get to track down that rare 7 inch! nerdygirl fun.

oops, as far as goner, try the bad times, reatards, lost sounds, final solutions. all memphis. i'm psyched about harlan bobo from there lately, but he's not punk that way, more like neil haggerty.

goddammit! thank you for all the advice! amazing!!! Exactly what I was looking for - some bands!! and yes, I do love Radio Birdman! I guess I never actually considered them in the same category as DMZ. I'm confused though, are you saying they are from the same country? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I know DMZ is from boston, but ain't radio birdman from australia?

you rule! thanks for the advice! Do you have those comps or has anyone ever put them out on a cd?
