Bendependent [email] said at 12:25 PM 05-09-2006: it was awesome seeing you also even tho it was a short visit. you have any plans to come up the east coast? if so, we've got a guest room. you're welcome any time...
josh [email] said at 12:34 PM 05-09-2006: i have your present, i was going to take it to you at mardi gras, but i ended up not going - kmail me an address in st louis. (or somewhere else where you will be sure to get it)
brandon [email] said at 12:54 AM 05-10-2006: Excellent. Then, I'll head it up Secret Santa. I intend to work punitive measures in for those who willfully take advantage of the system.
brandon [email] said at 10:06 PM 05-10-2006: Kaycee, I'm going to head secret santa, alright, god. I EARNED this. I EARNED THIS. Or maybe we could split it. Through the power of competitive giving, you know, someone might end up with a sporty new car.
woody [email] said at 9:02 PM 05-10-2006: St. Louis is a great place, I like visiting there. There's LaClede's Landing for bars and restaurants, pretty close to the arch, riverboat cruises and dinner cruises near the arch. The Hill for really great Italian restaurants (one of the local food staples is toasted raviolis, really good).
A "concrete", or frozen custard is a really good local dessert, Ted Drewes custard stand is a very popular local hangout on a hot night.
There is lots of free stuff too, like the zoo is free, the main museum (City Museum) is free on some days, the science center is free.
There are some really great blues bars too, I found several near the baseball stadium. I went to a Cardinals game, that was fun.
There is a lot do on "The Loop", around Delmar Blvd. You can find that online.
My all-time favorite place is The Muny, it's this outdoor theater in the middle of a huge park, as sophisticated as any indoor venue. That's where they'll do the big touring Broadway shows like Beauty & the Beast. And it's real theater seating, but there are huge oaks surrounding you and a tree that grows right up around the stage. We saw Meet Me in St. Louis there (corny, but what the hell, keeps the wife happy) Amazing atmosphere for a show. Here. You can see the theater seating off to the right.
I have lots of local contacts if you want to do anything specific, let me know.
brandon [email] said at 10:22 PM 05-10-2006: I agree. St. Louis is a fantastic city, with great shopping and a ton of historical shit to eyeball. Outside the city are some really fantastic fishing, parks, and rolling green hills. Avoid August and February.
