brainstorm

Sonny found two gumball machines in the trash recently and gave them to me, giving me a very big smile and an obsession with trying to figure out what to fill them with. They're bad ass. They even came with keys! Scott helped me clean them out cos he is a cool dude who owns the best velvet painting ever painted that I'm really hoping he posts a picture of inside of this post. That's another story though...

So I need your help.

What do I fill the gumball machines with?

They are candy machines and the dispensing holes aren't big enough for capsules, so whatever I fill it with must be 1) no bigger than banana runts 2) something that won't jam up the hole 3) preferably something worth equal to or less than 25 cents...

Sofar the ideas are:

- handfull of tiny pigs
- handfull of babies
- macaroni
- rice
- small bits of broken vinyl records

Also, if anyone knows where I can bulk order stupid small things, pleae link me...

yum.

I was going to suggest BBs. You could leave some wrist rockets hanging nearby for community use.

Paintballs would be so cool, with wooden slingshots nearby. I think it'd be fun to make the slingshots, too.

Or you could make tiny rolled up cartoons. They could even be parts of a larger cartoon which would require people to keep dumping in quarters so they can eventually get all the correct sequential pieces.

scott also suggeested random puzzle pieces, but I'm not sure if it would jam up the machine or not.

The machines are gonna go in a bar, and I was wishing it would fit capsules cos I was thinking I could do capsules of tobacco in one side and rolling papers in the other side, but I'm pretty sure that's incredibly illegal.

toenail clippings may be good too...

or small comics if I can figure out how to get a printer to make them so I don't have to assemble them any more.

Those are the ones they use in those gumball machines which have the "CASH PRIZE" ones with like 20 bucks (or a coupon, if the people are cheap) inside.

KICK ASS! I just figured out that they both do dispense capsules. I found this capsule that was smaller than all of the other ones I have and it worked. This opens up the possibilities a whole bunch.

I also realized that tiny little screenprinted patches fit quite nicely in the little plastic bubbles. I don't know why I never thought of that before. Maybe because it's 9:32 am and I can't seem to get to sleep...

This is going to be a rough week cos I have to hang up all my paintings next weeked and I can feel the nervous energy coming on like I haven't felt in years. I doubt I will sleep much. Must produce! Produce produce produce!!!!

Oriental traders has low priced cheap stuff. They have little weird essentials like glow in the dark bouncy balls, glow it the dark snakes, fake nail through the finger, aliens, tiny plastic reptiles, basically must haves. I bought this stuff for halloween to give out instead of candy. Me and a friend had a great time with this especially sorting out the loot. One alien for you...one jumping frog for me...
