#1 - Sugar Magnolia: Delacroix omelet - crab meat, cream cheese, green onions. and a Bloody Mary that could double as a chewy salad.

#2 - Blue Bird Cafe: Big Bird with OJ and coffee.

#3 - Cafe du Monde - coffee, beignets.

I find it so weird that I've become a maniac for everything bagels with fresh lox, given that it's the furthest from Southern cuisine but that's my NYC weekend tradition.
New Orleans:
1. Surrey's: Migas or the chicken version with one of their tasty coffee drinks or juices and it always ends up being so cheap that I go overboard with the tip
2. Bluebird: has my favorite huevos and it's nice having old maternal hippies give you breakfast and refill your coffee every time it's finally become satifactorily warm, but oh well
3.Beebo's:
it's nice to eat outside in New Orleans uptown and watch the neighborhood hungover Tulane students stumble out to their cars

the best lox bagel i ever had was in north adams, mass. and it only cost $4.00. MassMoCA is in the town and it is right in the middle of the berkeshire mountains. about 3 hours north of nyc, definitely a worthwhile saturday adventure. the drive up there on the taconic parkway is spectacular.

Oddly enough, though breakfast is my favorite meal of the day without a doubt ( and I do enjoy my coffee as well) I just cannot think of any one place that I have liked and that stood the test of time. When I lived in "the Stick," I would quit being a vegetarian on my birthday to go eat at Frank's on Airline but I would not eat there now if I was there as that stuff is not what one would call "healthy."

That being said, I love just sitting on a lazy Sunday morning, anywhere warm, with my coffee and newspaper and something funny on my mind so I can laugh without warning.
