WORMS!

I found this on my ankle as I was coming back from dumping my compost. Anyone know what this is? I'm guessing it is some kind of flatworm, but I have never seen anything like it. It made a nice little slime trail on my scanner.

Wade, you are off the fucking chain. Not only do you ID a planarian worm, but you describe it as "def." I love people who have embraced their geekdom. If more of us did this, the world would be a better place. One problem though, the link is broken.

I try to roll out around 7:20, have to leave for work by 8:30. Of ocurse, that would be 6:20 and 7:30, Killoggs time. I get everything ready the night before, so all I have to do is shower, shave, feed kittens, and get dressed. Any leftover time is spent checking various blogs.

              is 'feed kittens' a metaphor?

I have no idea how I missed this one. We should have a killogg thing where we scan found invertebrates and see who can identify it first and most accurately.

Our meeting was passionate but brief. I had to say goodbye like a summer camp love. It has probably moved on to another backyard to devour unsuspecting earthworms.

You should have chopped it into 1000 pieces so you can have 1000 planarians.

What it is is gross.
That's what you get for composting I guess.
Did you cut it into pieces and see if they all grew into new worms?
I wanted to start a band called the Planarians... then we'd break up and every member would start a new band called the Planarians...

This post has inspired me rip out this biology book I have from the 60's. It has a huge section on worms and marine invertebrates which is quite interesting. It says that Planaria posess the reproductive organs of both sexes and therefore is monoecious. wow.

All I can say is wow, so many weird people. But back the the Bipalium kewense, is in the phylum with a tape worm, but so far I found it only harmful to earthworms, slugs, its own kind. The fact it will eat its own kind if it has to is strange to me, but hey to eat his own, oops I mean each his own.
