cricket [email] said at 7:22 AM 02-04-2003: sure kayc, i will be by around bedtime. make sure the tea is decaffienated.
and woody,i know it hurts to be spurned. i have felt that way before. but i didnt let abunch of ignorant jocks and nerdy perverted freaky freaks get me down. nope, i just decided to be mean to them when i grew up. elitist? yes. unjustified? noway josé.
milky [email] said at 11:41 AM 02-04-2003: I forgot that I was once new to killoggs, too. She'll warm up to everyone here, Woody. No one can hate Woody. Cept me, cause I have to fork out extra for postage to send you a dang postcard, which I haven't done.
styrofoamish said at 2:01 PM 02-04-2003: was it? but you people need to focus. this post is about crickets trek to the dirt farm. focus. or josh get mad. josh make fire.
josh [email] said at 2:44 PM 02-04-2003: Actually, Ben, I only get "mad" when someone refuses to answer people's arguements inside one post just to make snide references to those same viewpoints in another, unrelated and personal post.
Example : Person A makes some political, philosophical or economical statement. Persons B & C argue with Person A in that same thread. Person A decides that s/he doesn't want to respond anymore, for whatever reason. This is fine. However, Person A then decides to make references to the argument in a totally unrelated post by Person D, knowing full well (and, seemingly, with the intention) that Persons B & C will bring the argument there - since they never had closure to the arguement in the first place (because Person A left them hanging).
That is rude to Person D. They are, after all, an innocent bystander. Person A should not be afraid to continue their arguement in the original thread.
kiche [email] said at 3:19 PM 02-04-2003: in many people's defense who are at times person "a" the post get's so huge and unweildy, the only sensible thing to do to keep the arguement from slipping into dadaist nonsense is to relocate to another post.
i would like to mention that i am not defending the actions of people who just ignore any facts/arguements brought to their attention that disagree with them and "post hop" saying the same ignorant shit repeatedly.
josh [email] said at 3:42 PM 02-04-2003: The best thing to do in that situation (as I have done before), is just post a new news item, journal entry or post of your own. Don't steal someone else's.
Lisa T. said at 2:38 PM 02-04-2003: not to state the obvious, or anything, but woody wouldn't be eligible anyway since you said that the person you take must have a head. why must you people with heads discriminate against those of us without them? it's not _our_ fault we're not cool enough to be added to the ranks of killoggs members... **sigh**
josh [email] said at 2:47 PM 02-04-2003: Maybe it's simply because virtually all the people with heads are known to other Killoggers. And thus there is sort of a referral action that would reassure a young woman about taking some stranger with them on a cross-country trip. Cricket probably assumes that if someone is judged okay by me or Ben, they probably aren't too dangerous, untrustworthy or annoying to take a road trip with. (Whether this is true or not, I dunno.)
anotherben. said at 3:03 PM 02-04-2003: there may be lingering uncertainty over wether or not we are all brandon...causing people to question any real awareness of each other or the possibility of actual real world interaction.
Woody said at 5:58 PM 02-04-2003: Speaking of NO, can anybody suggest a way to attend a conference at the Morial Convention Center while using very cheap accomodations? It could be up to a 1 hour drive from the Convention Center. Nothing too dangerous, but I really just need a bed.
shelly [email] said at 6:41 PM 02-04-2003: the capri hotel next to nick's on tulane is probably considered dangerous. right? (present day new orleanians?) or try for one of the hotels on the I-10 service road in New Orleans EAST. oh, but not ones on Chef Hwy, try the ones right off the Read or Bullard exits. they should be cheap and safe-ish depending on what time of year you're talking about. everywhere in New Orleans is dangerous. or try stuff in Kenner near the airport
anotherben.. said at 7:01 PM 02-04-2003: if you reserve early you can stay on my couch. its about a 15 minute walk from my apartment to the con center.
angelel said at 1:01 AM 02-05-2003: If you fish online, I'm sure that you'll be able to find a good deal in a hotel within walking distance. All the hotels in that area are pretty nice. I had friends who stayed at the Renaissance Hotel on Poydras (right near the convention center) for $40 a night. New Orleans is a tourist town chock full of empty hotel rooms every night there isn't mardi gras, jazz fest, or some major sporting event happening. Deals and promotions are easy to find.
cricket [email] said at 10:38 PM 02-04-2003: so does this all mean i have no takers???? what are you people afraid or something???? come on there has to be at least one of us who wants to come...
kaycee incognito said at 4:31 AM 02-05-2003: geez you guys... someone fun go with cricket!!! i would fucking kill to go!!!! and here she is, alone, which , lets face it, is probably the best way to go on a roadtrip anyway...
