was everyone at the party obsessed with mutated male genitalia, or just the same person who always drew the lower halfs?

That night, I never got to draw the genitalia. All I got to draw was the head, feet, or breasts. The one pelvic region I did draw was female, though.

It's the first one in the last row, the one with stars on its thighs. Those are some bitchin' cowboy boots.

so wait, how does this game work...

You fold up a sheet of paper into four sections. Someone draws the head, fold it under, and passes it to someone else. Without looking at what was drawn, they draw the torso, fold it under, and pass it on. This keeps repeating until the figure is done. Finally, it is unfolded, and you have your exquisite corpse masterpiece. It is a geat activity, sure to enliven any stuffy gathering of artists.

its also done with poems/stories. thats how it started, i think.

Craig said at 11:45 PM 05-30-2001:
It was started by the surrealists, in the form of poetry/automatic writing. The artists adopted it. I just read a biography on Remidios Varo, a surrealist painter that moved to Latin America during WWII. She played the game quite frequently with her inner circle of friends. They actually played the game with collage, which can also produce some very interesting results. I want to try it that way.

The Name "exquisite corpse" actually comes from a part of the very first exquisite corpse game, done as a writing exercise.
