Night of the Hunter

I guess everyone knows it already, but this movie is fantastic.
Mitchum is fucking insane/brilliant in it, too.

that is all.

You know they're remaking this, right?
josh [email] said at 10:20 AM 02-06-2006:
great movie, how had you never seen it before? scorcese kind of rolled this into his remake of cape fear, a little bit.

No shit huh? This has always been on my list of "movies I need to see" but I somehow never saw more than a few minutes of snippets.

I kind of knew that about the Cape Fear remake, even though I'd never seen NotH in full.

If I made a movie, I'd think back to Night's brilliant use of sets mixed with outdoor shots... I really like the aesthetic of movies that have obviously painted sets, like the skies in Kwaidan.

Spike Lee references it in Do The Right Thing.

Robert Mitchum was great, but the movie itself I thought was just OK. I felt the same way about Night of the Hunter. Neither of them are very fresh in my memory, though, so maybe I need to see them again.

What's wrong with me? I just went to the top of this post to see that it IS about Night of the Hunter, and NOT Cape Fear.

shelly winters is the real gem. watch night of the hunter back to back with lolita. compare.

my great grandmother matilda mitchum thrasher claimed that robert mitchum was her first cousin. i've never looked into it tho. he was from georgia.
