Thank goodness that it is unusaully cool out. Because I gots no electricity. I'm reduced to using my Blackberry for internet, when the network is actually up and running. And I can charge it up with the cigarette lighter thingy in my truck.
Speaking of my truck, I am also grateful that Wilma took all the rain with her when she left town. That' coz a large concrete roof tile committed suicide, leaped from the roof, and demolished Gracie's windshield. I have pics of that, as well as all the other damage, but can't upload them until power is retored. I was able to get on the local paper's website, and they're reporting that 98% of south Florida is without power. NINETY-EIGHT percent. And it could take FOUR WEEKS to get it restored. Do you know how batshit insane I will go if I am without power for a month? It's only been 36 hours so far and I'm losing my mind.
Well, at least insurance covers my windshield, and I've got some outfit coming by tomorrow to do that work. Then I'll be able to drive, so the cabin fever will be lessened to some extent.
Also, I miss my patio furniture. I had a brain fart and didn't bring it inside. I'm guessing it's halfway to Europe by now. It was just cheap green plastic stuff, but I used it every day.

I think even worse than not having power is having to take a cold shower because there's no gas. I can't speak first hand about this but my friends who come to my house for the hot showers can.

To give a soul hug, you gotta use your chi. With both hands.
julie [email] said at 10:49 PM 10-25-2005: Oh, Ed, I'm sorry to hear this. Come on up to DC and hang out for a while, until they turn your power back on. I need some help moving this weekend, anyway, and I will TOTALLY buy you a Bacon Mary for brunch on Sunday... which even *you* have to admit, is as close to church as you can get. In DC.
:)
Hope you're okay. Seriously, come visit whenever you want. My new place is HUGE.
brad [email] said at 10:47 AM 10-27-2005: I think my parents were told they would be without electricity for a month, but it was more like 2 weeks. Still, 2 weeks would be enough to drive me insane. Anyway, glad you and most of your stuff is OK, Ed.
kaycee [email] said at 8:32 PM 10-27-2005: bummer about your furniture, but it's good you are still intact! my mother is in Fort Myers, she had every tree in her yeard ripped out and tossed away. scary...
ed [email] said at 8:09 AM 11-03-2005: Thanks, everyone!
I finally am mobile again (I ended up having to smash out the busted part of my windshield and drove it to a glass shop on Nov. 1, because the people who were supposed to come fix it never showed up). Still no internet at home, but it's up at work, so I can check email and stuff now.
