"Critics are like eunuchs in a harem; they know how it's done, seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves" - Brendan Behan

this event is of course in Baton ROuge.. BUT- If anyone anywhere else wants some free comics, tomorrow is free comic book day, and you should be able to go into one of your better local comic shops and pick up a copy of the book i'm in:

plus, Fantagraphics, Drawn & Quarterly, Alternative, Comics Festival, Oni, and others have some pretty good looking books that are worth picking up. Yeah, so chances are you've got a comic shop in town that's doing this, so if you've got some time to kill tomorrow you can swing by and pick up some free comics.

Goddamnit! When you can't get the store until after three all they have is G.I. Joe left! (Oh well, I still bought the first four issues of Street Angel)

Pretty much there were hot fan-girls groping Zack the entire time I was there. It was deplorable, morally.

I was in Victoria BC on Sat, and I went to 4 different comic shops while we were exploring.

Only two had non-superhero stuff at all, and none had your book. I was pretty disappointed in what they did have available (but maybe I was just late???). If the point was to attract new people to comics, I don't know how well that could be accomplished by what I took home...

yeah, it's a pretty flawed event.. It'sa pretty much up to the stores themselves to choose whatt they stock, how they give it away, etc.. so the better stores tend to have a wide variety and the shittier stores tend to have like "SPIDERMAN FOR KIDS" which is fine, but not as the only real option..
