... to be current on all your bills. I just got paid, but most the money is gone for bills already. Still, it's nice to not have to worry about it for a few weeks. I'm trying to burn through my debt as fast as possible, so I'm sticking to my standard dirtfarm budget as much as possible.
One of the things I did do, is sign up for this Film and Video Workshop. We are going to shoot a scene in the course of the class, which is only like 6 sessions. Yesterday was the first day. We auditioned ten actors then each had to select two of them to be in our scene. After that we scouted locations (all have to be inside the house of the instructor, David Stern). We have to have our scene written and to the instructor by monday morning. Next thursday, we meet with the DP and discuss shots, our shooting script, equipment and lighting. In the two weeks between we need to meet with our actors and do a rehearsal, if we want. Then, April 5th-6th, we shoot all the scenes back to back. We all are the crew for the other people in the class. It seems like a lot of fun so far. I'll post my scene on here when I'm done writing it.
Tonight Days of Heaven, by Terence Malik, is showing for free at the Natural History Museum. If anyone wants to go, email me.
Next weekend, I'm going back to Louisiana for a week. I expect that I will be drunk on Evan's floor a significant portion of this time, so if you want to hang out with me, check his floor and I'll probably be there.
Ben bought me an ice cream sandwich, the specific brand of which I had been searching for for months, since we went to Richmond last. That was nice of him, but he pretended to have not bought one for me and was eating one when I picked him up from the metro. He was almost a dick, but he turned out to be nice.
mary [email] said at 12:38 PM 03-15-2002: That is SOOOO Ben. Just when you think he is the biggest jackass ever, he will actually be doing something really thoughtful and sweet.

Where does it say he bought it in Richmond? It says he bought me a kind of ice cream sandwich I've been looking for since we went to Richmond.
Courtney [ url ] said at 2:40 PM 03-15-2002: Hope you have fun with your Film & Video workshop. I was in Film school for 2.5 years and loved it, although it's expensive as hell. I love editing. It's what I would do if I had the choice.
Will you have a digital copy of the finished film? How is it going to be edited?
josh [email] said at 2:52 PM 03-15-2002: It will be on digital video, we get to pick what we want to use (as long as it's something the DP has) and I want to use a XL-1, because that's the model I'd like to buy, once I pay off my debt.
buster said at 11:19 PM 03-15-2002: i would wait until the xl-2 or whatever the next version is. the xl-1 isn't a huge difference from the xl-1. although i think it is geared more towards film makers.
yet another post that will be buried because i am jumping into the middle of a converstation.
evan [email] said at 1:53 AM 03-16-2002: you know, even though i don't know shit about cameras, i wouldnt imagine the xl-1 differing very much from the xl-1...
anotherben said at 4:00 PM 03-15-2002: it is a nice feeling. the contrast from a year ago when i was wondering if they really were going to turn off the power to now is so radically different in the direction of less stressful that i almost enjoy paying my bills. almost.
Brad said at 10:13 PM 03-15-2002: Josh, your film workshop sounds a lot more structured and guided than mine. We're pretty much on our own with the class I'm taking, and I don't like that. It's like, "Here's what you need to know. Now go make a film." Plus, we're each expected to have our own film -- we can't work in groups. It's pretty discouraging. But I did meet an attractive French girl in the class who said she and I should see a movie "every Monday" (my day off). So however the class ends, I won't feel like my $44 was wasted.
