I didn't think I would connect with this as much as I have.
When Kurt Cobain died it was a choice he made.
I know the effects of Pantera might have worn off on you.
You may have never been a fan.
I kinda distanced myself from the Dixie Flag Strip Club Pantera vibe.
Same as i stopped diggin RHCP when it semmed so silly-macho.
But for all the times I listened to my Cowboys from Hell Cassette tape and for the way Pantera was the new Metallica when Metallica started suckin'
man those first three albums were a soundtrack to parts of my life.
I really couldn't stomach it when this angry dude from work tried to make a joke about it
This was a person.
and I know that alot of times the reaction to a celebrity death is dark jokes.
This was someone's John Lennon
This was someone's Cliff Burton.
This was someone's #3
This was someone's Tupac
This was someone's brother, friend, hero.
I called my old boss Luis at Atomic Music who was friends with Dimebag. Lou's band Lucy Brown had toured with Pantera and Vinnie and Dimebag recorded Lucy Brown's third album.
I had told Luis how I had thought about calling up him and Eric to thank them for giving me a job for so many years and I thought "Nah that's kinda silly" they would be like....uh... Ok you're welcome.?.?
Well when I found out about the shooting I called up Luis and said I am sorry
and I told him how i was going to say thank you for treating me like family all these years.
I know it's a small thing next to things as big as Death and Loss
but I think for as quick as I (we) curse each other or spead around negative stuff we can all take the time to say we care about each other.
When I called Eric .............ah never mind you get the point.
