I went to the Doctor today, got a check up and physical. It's free, so I figured I might as well. I needed to go to the dentist, and I figured I might as well take a whole day off and do both.
The doctor's office wasn't so bad, though they had to attempt to take my blood twice, because I wasn't hydrated enough the first time (or the nurse just wasn't able to find my vein, I dunno). I also got my TB test and my Tetanus booster, as well as the standard tests - even a hearing test!
The dentist's office, however, the dentist's office.
This man was a cruel tyrant. He manhandled me, manhandled my mouth, plowed into it, stormed over it. My teeth still ache from his blitzkrieg. He used a type of instrument I haven't seen before to clean my teeth. It resembled a router or perhaps a dremel - not like the water and vibration-aided instruments of dentists I have visited in the past.
And when he lowered the chair almost to floor to begin, he commanded me "You will inform me if it is uncomfortable." However, when I almost immediately started to moan and writhe on the table, he DIDN'T STOP. He didn't stop.

WIESBADEN, Germany -- A German dentist plucked the dentures from the mouth of a former client while she ate at a restaurant after he got fed up with her ignoring repeated pleas to pay for her man-made munchers.
The dentist, named only as Konstantinos A by the German newspaper Bild, had sent pensioner Myrna B a bill for 492 marks ($273 US) in January, 1997.
When she continued to duck reminders, the dentist appeared unexpectedly at the Rheinbahnhof Restaurant here and reclaimed his property as the pensioner opened her mouth in surprise.
"He wasn't even wearing rubber gloves!" an outraged Myrna B told Bild.
She has taken an action against the dentist for bodily harm, the paper said -- but only after she turned up at the dentist's clinic, money in hand, to recover her false teeth.

Michael said at 10:44 PM 08-27-2003: funny you say that, I'm actually doing some contract work at SoniCare in Washington state right now, its a pretty cool place. I'm hoping to score one but so far, no dice.
