What you always suspected is true

Kiddo had just drifted off to sleep, letting the nipple slip out of his mouth as he rolled over to cuddle his dad. Tranquil domestic scene. I'm still awake, can't sleep, so I sit up and am about to get out of bed. Something drops from out of nowhere. A smallish black figure scurries across the blanket. Spider. Spider on my sleeping family. Oh, hell no.

I squashed him quietly, with two bare fingers. I wiped his corpse from my bedsheet with a flannel receiving blanket, and I laid him to rest in my fuckin' garbage can, because, motherfucker, you don't crawl on my family while we sleep. Because fuck you, I'm bigger than you, and this is my house.

Sleep tight, Killoggs.

Perhaps that spider was protecting your family as it slept from all the OTHER nasty insects that roam around quietly in the darkness...

You're telling me you wouldn't have squashed it?

Spiders don't bother me. I usually just scoop them up in a glass and throw them outside. Even wasps I leave alone at this point and just shoo them towards the window they came I from. Roaches and flies I will kill, though. And infesting insects, as well.

I opened my back door this morning to find a huge web blocking the door, with a diligently working spider putting on the finishing touches.

I just hit it with the spray and watched as it staggered up the escape thread.

We had to kick 14 daddy-longlegs out of out tent this weekend. And our smallest cat was bitten by one on her paw as she tried to play with one.

My girlfriend hates spiders. I was showing her (being an idiot) this weekend how harmless they are by petting one, and it totally bit me. It wasn't poisonous, nor did it hurt, but it made us both laugh.
