I didn't look that hard, but I didn't find nearly as many vintage stores in seattle as in portland the year I lived there.
shelly [email] said at 1:58 PM 07-19-2006: Pretty Parlor is sporadic but I've hit gold there before and the owner is really nice. Red Light is usually overpriced. If you go to the Capitol Hill Red Light there is a place across the street within a block or two that also has a mix of used and new but focuses on more contemporary rather than vintage. I forget their name. Further down Broadway is Atlas and on that end of Capitol Hill on side streets is a Value Village and the Chicken Soup Brigade/ AIDS alliance thrift store. There is a decent consignment shop on 15th. Still Capitol Hill but headed to downtown instead you'll find a few along Pike and Pine. The names change every 6 months or a year but you'll find them. In other neighborhoods, Fremont Ave and Ballard Ave each have some vintage and boutique clothing stores but I lose track of the names. Find the drag in each neighborhood which has the stores and bars and restaurants and wander and you'll see them. West Seattle also has about 5 decent vintage stores in a 6 block radius of the junction area of California Ave.
There are supposed to be a lot of nice consignment shops on the East Side, but I don't know that area.
Usual rules apply, trendy neighborhoods and neighborhoods near the U are picked over and/or overpriced.
