I always heard 'em called crawdads OR crayfish, as a kid. So all the authentical-type folks around here (including Barb's dad, who's from St. Martinville) looked at me askance when I used the term crawdad. I tried crayfish and got even more strange looks. To everyone around here, it's crawfish, and crawfish only. So it makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one who ever called 'em crawdads.
