Only in New York

This is definitely not the most enlightening way to deal with last Tuesday's results, but I respect the passion involved:

Not to come down on such a fervent fellow but he does not come off as the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Which borough of NYC is the one known for rough and rowdy chaps who swing baseball bats, wear gold chains and tanktops?

Honestly, I would have expected this type of response from a Dubya supporter if he had lost, not the other way around.
anotherben [email] said at 5:05 PM 11-08-2004:
why is that? look at convention arrest numbers or just the ratio of defaced campaign signs wherever you go. the less constructively expressive seem to - more often than not- favor the color blue.
woody [email] said at 6:34 PM 11-08-2004:
Or maybe Bush just makes people angrier? Or places more authoritarian control over protestors and arrests more of them for no good reason? Nah, he wouldn't do that.
anotherben [email] said at 7:17 PM 11-08-2004:
or perhaps kerry failed to evoke emotion or boston authorities are lax on violent protestors? maybe the alignment of the stars just invoked a more antagonistic mood for all earth-dwellers during the week of the repub-con. i personally think kerry fans just lack a good sense of humor.
pokey [email] said at 1:19 AM 11-09-2004:
Maybe its because more liberals are young, volatile types, while conservatives are old farts who avoid real world confrontation.
josh [email] said at 6:45 PM 11-08-2004:
convention arrest #s are largely because of black bloccers, who aren't really red or blue since they are radical anarchists who don't believe in government.

and also because the repubs get buck, i know people who got arrested in NYC and they were just standing there.
Wade said at 7:40 PM 11-08-2004:
Republicans are against people standing around and doing nothing.

Thats slacking. Its a liberal thing. If those people didnt have anything to do beside stand there, they should have been in trade school, or studying for the GED. Or something. SLACKERS.

black bloccers don't just stand there. that's why they get arrested.

Actually I had no idea these retards existed. I thought you had mispelled something. "Black bloccers" wtf?

Thats retarded. But yeah, I wouldn't mind a hunting rifle and a scope and some of those caffinated retards running amuck nearby. IDIOTS. And look! They clearly originated in France. Man, does france suck cock!

Consider how militaristic the Bush Administration is.
Think about some of this campaign's most fervent supporter, and their mentality.
It is one thing to be arrested in a political protest, and it is quite another to challenge someone to an old-fashioned brawl.
kara [email] said at 5:46 PM 11-08-2004:
i love it when people say "only in new york" about stuff that happens everywhere
brianbibbly [email] said at 5:47 PM 11-08-2004:
psssssst, kara, come back to us. We miss you.
nelson [email] said at 7:33 PM 11-08-2004:
Sorry, but I could not see this post being on Craigslist here in San Francisco, or nearly anywhere else for that matter.
NYC has a certain street toughness that placates this sort of thing.

      but it was funny anyway.

i could see the same threat if posed to happen atop a crawfish hole as titled, "Only in Louisiana"

If by "street toughness" you mean "lots of faggots who dress like The Strokes" well then of course.

The guy's post was too restrained to occur in Louisiana, there would have been name-calling involved.

yeah, i was thinking the same thing.

i'd say "only on the east coast". everywhere else i live something like this wouldn't have been even half as reasoned, professional and family friendly.

Bush Fight Club.

Interesting concept.
rick [email] said at 10:42 AM 11-09-2004:
If there is a Bush Fight Club, those lads who kicked the protestor while she was down on the ground, need to be in it.
NathanK said at 2:22 PM 11-09-2004:
That's hilarious - NYC obviously has its flaws, but then has everything you could possibly be interested in - that's why NYers are too busy to slag other cities. As a side note - listen to the Secret Machines.

I am not slagging NYC. I actually think it is an amazing city, and I would love to live there one day. I just thought this was a funny CL post, given how matter-of-fact the guy was.
