Well, I have my six month review in about a half an hour, maybe later. The outcome of which may or may not grant me a raise...and I'm nervous...lol.
And I have a bad cold and I started smoking again because I'm always worried about money. Crisis..oooo...yeah, I know I shouldn't be nervous but so much has happened in the past 2 months, it's hard to maintain everything. Well, wish me luck! I'm sure I'll be fine, regardless, but I still feel psyched-out.
Note to self: smoking only makes you sicker and your boss knows that and he'll smell it on you. Don't scratch that urge.
And even though I'm posting some stuff that sounds like a "woe is me" post, it's not. I excited about getting married and the weather here is great. I'll be over the cld in a day or two proivided I not smoke 3-4 cigarettes a day.
That's all, y'all. I can't wait to print the postcards and mail them to you participants of killoggs once I get my PC back.
loren [email] said at 12:52 PM 01-16-2003: i just found out my bonus amount for this six month review period (we get a raise once a year and review with possible bonus every 6 months). I got 4% which is fine, until i found out my friend got 7%. Lucky bastard.

loren [email] said at 2:26 PM 01-16-2003: yeah, my bonus check was more than half of what the percentage would have been without taxes. and it's not your company that taxes it by the way.
milky [email] said at 2:31 PM 01-16-2003: I know. HR explained that to me (i'm thick headed..lol) but it's just not cool. They shouldn't tax the low-income bracket peeps so hard.
mary [email] said at 6:04 PM 01-16-2003: If it's any comfort, you'll likely recoup some of that at the end of the year. The problem with bonuses is that when taxes are calculated for withholding, the assumption is you will be making that much money for every pay period. Which bumps most people into a higher tax bracket.
milky [email] said at 11:41 AM 01-17-2003: I'm coordinating a group of volunteers to do phone surveys right now...we get overtime...
That's going to be a nightmare...no one knows exactly when we're getting paid the money because it has to be in a seperate check.
milky [email] said at 11:48 AM 01-17-2003: we turn in time sheeps but everyone gets paid in a cycle for 46 hrs. I don't understand the reason behind it but it _is_ legal.
el Frugé said at 12:58 PM 01-16-2003: Congrats Milky. Nervousness will climb as you get closer and closer to the day of marriage. The worst part about getting married for me was that everyone, if they didn't really know me, would ask, "Are you nervous." It seems to be the second response people have when you tell them youi are getting married. The first is, "Congratulations."
milky [email] said at 1:01 PM 01-16-2003: They told me I'd get the maximum (and I talked to some people from corporate, they said it's 4%). Cool, right? Regionally, I heard the max they give out here in 2%...to cut down expenses. If I fight for more, I could come across as ungrateful and confrontational and that'd just be an excuse to fire me later. They cut the pay for salespeople here by 1000 bucks a month yesterday and then told them to go out and buy suits (for SAN ANTONIO...It's like living on the sun. Wool just makes you look bad over here because people sweat so much, hence the title SA has of "worst B.O. in the U.S." All of these reasons are why I'm flipping. The other supervisor I had on my side, she left. But she put in that I should get 4% before she left. She said I'm worth at least that much but it wasn't her decision...

Killoggs is my support network. However strange that may be, some of my best friends read this site (although they may not post or respond). I've gotten some of the best advice in the world from Killoggers.
el Frugé said at 1:29 PM 01-16-2003: Oh I forgot to mention the best part Milky. The best part is that if you time it right and you are lucky enough you get to make a baby
and then you're not just married you're part of a self-made family.
Lisa T. said at 2:07 PM 01-16-2003: good luck with your 6-month review. i had mine in december, and i thought it was going to be horrible, but it was actually very painless. and i got a raise and a bonus -- i'm sure you will fare just as well.
p.s. -- you shouldn't have started smoking again if you're so worried about money cause it's going to cause you to lose even more money. just thought i'd help you out there.... :)
