Daniel said at 10:28 AM 02-20-2002: sam got a job as a dog walker, you can try that if you like. how about a can opener. there is no shame in opening cans for a living.
milky [email] said at 10:59 AM 02-20-2002: Dan, I have the need for medical insurance, so I can't work for chump change. Besides I have 2 degrees. I'm not degrading myself.
mary said at 8:15 PM 02-20-2002: Hmmm. Who knew I was "degrading" myself when I went to work as a temp after two months of unemployment in the D.C. area? Or when I worked at the book store because I wasn't making enough at my "good" job to pay my medical expenses.
There's nothing "degrading" about doing what you have to do to take care of your business. Just get out the house and do -something-, and things will start to look up for you.
zack [email] said at 1:01 PM 02-21-2002: ha ha ha . Play nice yourself. Real good backwards dig at me, and it's not even the case (or relevant!). I like how you equate the degree=success thing, btw.. "Oh, the degradation of having a shitty job! It's so much better to have none at all than sully my precious college degreed hands!"
I am playing real nice, milk. I tend to bite back the more harsh things I think of off the top of my head, so be happy- you are loved, but I can only go so far.. It's just too frustrating to watch you slam your head into a wall over and over again, coming here to write about your daily mood swings. Actually, I can handle reading what you write for the most part, because there's usually something of interest, but you are totally deluding yourself in so many ways that it's disturbing to sit back and watch.. I prefer my weird drama to come from Fox's shitty programming, not my friends. Anyway, re-read what Mary said because she said what I would say but with less attitude and you need to hear it again, apparently
milky [email] said at 2:05 PM 02-21-2002: And (not to kick a dead horse) I did work many, many manual labor jobs in the oilfield industry and I did wait tables and I was even a janitor/landscaper for a while. Those jobs just hurt, physically.
Craig said at 10:35 AM 02-20-2002: I need to find some mold-a-rama machines so that we can trade. Where do you think I can find some. I may check the museum of natural history as well as the Bronx Zoo.
Craig said at 11:10 AM 02-20-2002: I went to that site. It is just a collection of various past mold-a-ramas, a mold-a-rama museum. It's a cool site, though. I love the female figures, especially the woman riding the seahorse.
zack [email] said at 3:11 PM 02-20-2002: No, I just mean that was fucking quick to move there & then leave. It's also quick b/c in your last post you were talking about how good life was even though you didn't have a job.
It's also quick b/c you moved there basically to be with this girl and now you're all "whatever"..
milky [email] said at 3:22 PM 02-20-2002: Yah, it's fun here. But I know my money is going to run out soon. Life's good when you don't have to worry about employment. I still love the girl I'm with, and yes, that's why I'm here...but if I can't find a job here, what's the point? Besides, I got 2 months left.
mary said at 8:09 PM 02-20-2002: Don't leave yet. And don't worry so much about finding a job that uses your degree. Many of the people on killoggs moved places (for whatever reason) without having a job there, and had to get jobs they didn't like (waiting tables, clerical, etc) to pay the bills till they found something more to their liking. The other advantage of going out and just getting a job is that you meet people, the people who will help you get the job you actually want. Trust me on this.
zack [email] said at 11:25 AM 02-21-2002: a bunch of us said the exact same thing almost a month ago, but you're still going on about the same thing. Have you even looked for a basic level job, or are you just putting in your resume with big buisnesses??
anotherben said at 11:02 PM 02-20-2002: one person on killoggs started out in ny driving boats around a lake and shooting fireworks at geese. he also lived in the woods north of the city briefly during those days.
anotherben said at 8:16 PM 02-21-2002: it was mostly seagulls actually. there were also swans and cormorants and buffleheads and wood ducks and even the occasional grebe.
anotherben said at 7:38 AM 02-22-2002: so they wouldnt poo in the water. thats what they told me anyway. i told them it would take trainloads of bird guano to effect a lake that size. they said dont ask questions. just chase birds. we mostly just shot fireworks at each other though.. there were 3 boats on the lake with 2 people in each one.
milky [email] said at 2:03 PM 02-21-2002: Thanks...that one was for YOU actually. Sorry for slamming you. It's not nice. I'm still plugging away...I just found out I have a second interview Monday with some company because I was overqualified for the first job I applied for (which bugs me b/c I wanted that job specifically so I could go to night school)
