John chose this place in Andersonville called Big Jones. It was pretty cool! We were the first ones there and the owner was very nice and sat us right by the window.

We waited for a while with no service. I guess there was some confusion since we arrived right when the restaurant opened. Once the owner realized we hadn't been served he said our drinks were on the house for the entire meal. We had two Autumn Manhattans each.

oi, I miss Andersonville. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm going to go home and walk 10 miles tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Hmm. My sister is going to visit her boyfriend in Chicago on Sunday before we fly out. Should any of the Chicago k-heads care to grab a bite to eat, let me know. I might give another friend a call if he's actually in town.

The owner sat you right by the window, because it's a restaurant trick to make it show passerby's that people are indeed eating there and that they should too.

That's what we figured. The next people who came in were sat by the window too. But I like windows.

In case you're wondering what was in any of our dishes, please reference the menu above.

Also, notice the date.

Rather blurry picture, but I thought the inside of the restaurant was nice.
meredith [email] said at 4:50 PM 11-27-2008:

I enjoyed the Festive Fall Decor on the bar as well. You can't really see it here.
meredith [email] said at 4:51 PM 11-27-2008:

I especially enjoyed the light fixtures.
meredith [email] said at 4:53 PM 11-27-2008:

This was our relish plate. It was really quite good.

They were very attentive with refilling our water glasses. John and I think they may have thought we were reviewing the place because I kept taking pictures with my google phone. After all that water, I eventually had to visit the restroom.
meredith [email] said at 5:02 PM 11-27-2008:

I decided full documentation was in order. There were two chair heights to choose from if you had to wait for the restroom.
meredith [email] said at 5:03 PM 11-27-2008:
John had the Waldorf Salad
meredith [email] said at 5:04 PM 11-27-2008:
I had the Organic Greens Salad
meredith [email] said at 5:07 PM 11-27-2008:

We originally wanted the She Crab Soup, but they had a problem and it burnt, so they asked us to change and we choose the Butternut Squash and oh my god was it good. It was excellent.
meredith [email] said at 5:10 PM 11-27-2008:

The main course was very good. John's plate was huge, he had some leftover to take with him to work. He had the traditional Turkey Dish.
meredith [email] said at 5:11 PM 11-27-2008:

I had the Wild Striped Sea Bass which was AMAZING. I cleaned my plate. The sun was making me transparent, but it was also making me very warm. It's a really nice day here weather wise.
meredith [email] said at 5:14 PM 11-27-2008:

And now dessert. It was awesome. John had Mississippi Mud Pie and I had Pumpkin Pie. By now we had been at the restaurant for two hours, so I had to inhale my pie and we had to kind of rush out so John could get to work. But the staff was really really nice and we got all the food for $40 a person. The free drinks were an awesome lagniappe obviously. It was a very fun Thanksgiving.

Yes, thanks for saving me from having a non-existant Thanksgiving this year Meredith. That was a really nice dinner.
