God said at 6:39 AM 11-25-2008: Hmm...that wouldn't happen to be a male firstborn child, would it? |
Satan said at 2:00 PM 11-25-2008: When you're done with the first-born, can I have him? |

 | brandonA [email] said at 4:36 PM 11-26-2008: And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. |

 | brandon [email] said at 2:54 PM 11-25-2008: I just re-activated my facebook account. But, I still don't "get it."
Also, this worries me:
40 somethings take the facebook very seriously I've always felt that fb has a more conservative edge to it, given all the design and content restrictions. I find it stifling. On the other hand, my cats have facebook accounts. I just don't understand how it's more innovative than myspace. The same people that bugged me on myspace are bugging me on facebook, in fact, most people still seem to have accounts on both services. |
 | meredith [email] said at 11:44 AM 11-27-2008: Thank you! I have been resisting Facebook for this very reason and shall continue to do so. a few years ago I was all "really? Myspace? is it really all that different from Friendster?" Friends assured me that Yes! Yes it was different and I just wouldn't be complete until I had a Myspace page. Now it's the same thing. And I refuse to be duped again. |
 | john [email] said at 1:31 PM 11-28-2008: I agree. It ends with Myspace for me. I already feel silly enough when I check that stupid page. I have two far away college friends who occasionally message me via Myspace and that's the only reason that I still even check it. |
 | brandon [email] said at 1:44 PM 11-28-2008: I got rid of my myspace a while back. I just suspended my facebook page a few days ago. I don't think I'm going to be back. Mostly, I just twitter nowsadays. It's more in-tune with what I'd like to use socnet apps for anyway, just randomly blipping about shit that's on my mind.
I figure, if someone really wants to find me, it's not too hard to google up my whereabouts.
And since, in the past 10 years, that really hasn't happened, it's not a big deal. Also, I found that I was just replicating AIM on facebook. It's much less restrictive to AIM someone than it is to IM facebook someone, so, again, like, I'm thinking, what's the point in replicating all of this functionality when some of the older apps are better?
I think if you're a creative, if you're a business person, if you've got something to sell, or really can benefit from networking, then facebook is a great thing, especially as it's a little more grown-up than myspace/friendster. But, I'm not, so, the value for me is really being able to find out "who's going to the tailgate..." which I already get from a listserv, an evite, and from txtmsgs, etc.
Bitty disagrees with my assessment though and will continue to maintain her profile. If you'd like to be friends with my cat, her name is "key lime" |
 | josh [email] said at 11:24 AM 12-04-2008: facebook is pretty amazing. myspace is okay but facebook is amazing because they have an open API where people can develop applications and stuff that work with facebook. |
