Fish tales.
There's a dude at work that refuses to be wrong by talking really loud. There have been so many arguments over the dumbest shit that I have to stop myself from getting big and attempting to school him.
The one time I tried was yesterday.
(dumb argument warning.)
He says that it's proven that ESPN NFL 2K6 is a better game than Madden 2K6, cause the opinions of the majority of gamers (who post on gaming messageboards) say it has better gameplay and graphics.
I say, "you can't really use opinion as fact that way"
and he starts blowing up. He uses devices like, "Who won the presidential election? BUSH. That means everybody likes him." and "if people say chocolate is better, how could you NOT believe them?" all shouted at the top of his voice. I couldn't get a word in at all. He just kept answering his own questions. And at the end, he says, "FACT- you're pissed off. And I DO know the difference beetween fact and opinion."
I *was* pissed.
Livid.
...and, I know shit about sports and sports games.
So today, my supervisor says, "There's NO fucking way that game is better than Madden. In fact, I bet that it outsold that game by at least double."
Dude started getting amped,
"the fuck? they sold 2K5 for like $20, it was rated as good as Madden was. Fuck you, the bet is on." And they wrote on the wall, "Bet: prove which game outsold the other- ESPN NFL2K6 vs. Madden 2K6."
Later, my supervisor also adds, "I'll fucking buy everyone lunch tomorrow (which is at least $300 total) if you just bring in that dumb ass game."
Dude was like, "SHIT, YOU BETTER BRING SOME MONEY, CAUSE I'LL HAVE THAT SHIT TOMORROW. BET."
Which, to me, was a strange bet.
Bringing in a game as a bet?
My supervisor must be crazy.
Until I found that,
EA Sports bought exclusive licensing rights to the NFL, and in turn, bought the ESPN name, and fifteen years of licensing rights.
