meredith [email] said at 12:58 PM 01-20-2005: I was in a Mardi Gras parade once (my dad was in a krewe) and we did the whole cerimonial choosing of the king and queen and everything at the ball. It was pretty sweet and yes, it involved King Cake.
abby [email] said at 1:07 PM 01-20-2005: "In offices, classrooms, and homes throughout the city, King Cakes are sliced and enjoyed by all. Like the biblical story, the "search for the baby" adds excitement, as each person waits to see in whose slice of cake the baby will be discovered."
meredith [email] said at 1:14 PM 01-20-2005: Yeah, at the Balls they don't use the baby, it's necklaces with or without pearls. But I remember the whole baby in the king cake thing from when I was in Kindergarden. I HATED the baby and NEVER wanted it. Once I got it and tried to hide it, but everyone was all like "Meredith got the baby! Miss Kim! Meredith got the baby!!!" I was so embarrassed for some reason and didn't tell my parents. Thus they didn't buy a King Cake for me to bring to class the next day. So when my mom dropped me off the next day this little boy named Clint got straight in my face and said, "YOUDIDN'TBRINGAKINGCAKE!THATMEANSNOONECANGETTHEBABYANDTHEREWILLNEVERBEANOTHERKINGCAKEAGAINEVER!!!" My mom was like, "Oh, I didn't know..." and the teacher said, "That doesn't mean we'll NEVER have another King Cake, Clint..." It was mortifying. That stupid baby.
