ok my little nerdy copats, i am looking for a boardgame that my friend jeremy wants for his birthday.. i fear that if i find it, i will be stuck playing it for days on end but hey, right now we play japanese monopoly which is painful to say the least.. i was hoping that someone out there has heard of it? i will pay MAD shipping to get it...

TALISMAN. dice, monster player cards, with power and spell strength shit, i have a feeling it's like dungeons and dragons only a board game.. any clues as to where in the world this thing could be?

that, or the game STRATEGO.. this one i remmeber from way way way back... 2 armies of red and blue fighting each other, i think it is set up like chess but the pieces are numbered, lower number=stronger piece, except for bomb pieces and they don't move... they can, according to jeremy, be taken by a "sapper" piece...

Stratego.
Talisman is out of print, so it's going to be a little expensive, I'm afraid

Stratego you can still get from amazon.com at Stratego

They even have a Star Wars version.

PS- I think the dude who takes out the bombs is called a 'miner'

Get AXIS and ALLIES, that way you can take out your frustrations on the 1942 japanese army/navy.

Talisman was made by Games Workshop, and is no longer in production. You'll have to work the second-hand market, which will be difficult in the Rising Sun Spot.

Better luck with Stratego.

We have a lame new version of Stratego... it's cheaply made, the pieces are made of plastic with stickers for the pictures of the army... it's lamer than the version we grew up with, but it'll do.

(dayumm, do I sound old or what?)

Why do they do that? Because some bean counter told them they can make games for $1.67 instead of $1.78?

Milton Bradley makes a "Nostalgia Game Series" for sale only at Target. It comes in a wooden box and has the old plastic pieces embossed on them in gold, i.e. Marshal ranked with numeral 1
