I'm eating pretzels but what I really want is peanut butter cups.
Trying to break a candy-addiction cycle. A few days ago I actually was buying chocolate and the vending machine gave me a free bag of pretzels. It's been giving me free snacks lately. So I set aside these pretzels and now I'm bitterly eating them in lieu of going down and getting some delicious (albeit melty) peanut butter cups.
When I opened this bag of rold gold pretzels I swear I looked in and saw a bottomless supply of stupid pretzels somehow fit into this little snack bag. Indeed as I eat them their numbers never seem to deplete. I've never been a pretzel gal, except for occasional hangover cravings. Overall they just get in the way. They're like the lame guy in the party mix. I actually try to eat them all first to get it over with.
They're drying out my mouth and I only have one seltzer water which I'm saving for a special moment between now and 5. I need to make it to 5 and not eat candy. I'm sitting here with the uncomfortable company of these pretzels, my boyfriends chinese leftovers, and the sandwich I didn't eat yesterday.

I have been trying to eat more fruit lately. At work it doesn't help that a guy who had a heart attack and/or stroke keeps a large jar of peanut M&M's that I frequently consume when getting hunger pangs in the late afternoon.

Pretzels and dry tortilla chips tend to leave my mouth feeling parched of all life giving water. no thanks.

pretzels are for suckers. unless it's the aunt's pretzel sticks at an airport before a flight and some 10's.

Have you tried making soft pretzels before? They are delicious dipped in fancy mustard or cheese, or even plain and warm out of the oven.

You can also freeze them on a cookie sheet after forming them/letting them rise/bathing them in baking soda and boiling water. After freezing and placing in a container or ziploc, you can plop them in the toaster oven or real oven whenever for fresh soft pretzel goodness.

How did that huge rack fit in that tiny... well, probably not, but did you bake like 2 at a time? What's going on here? That's a damn fancy toaster oven.
amanda [email] said at 10:33 PM 07-08-2008:
Nah, the toaster oven was not used in the production of these pretzels.

Damn. Now I want soft pretzels with cheese dipping sauce. I wonder if they have those at the IKEA food court thingy? We have to run over there to exchange something before they close tonight, otherwise I'd totally whip up a batch of dough.

Pretzel's taste nice when dipped in beer.

To me the lame guy in the party mix is the bagel chip.
brandon [email] said at 3:05 PM 06-30-2008:
You need to equip your bagel chips with cream cheeses.
julie [email] said at 12:40 PM 07-01-2008:
Yeah but the ones in the mix taste like cardboard soaked in MSG. Maybe I need to buy a different mix.

Hey, some of my best friends are jewish! Like Myriam!

You can't spell Julie without J-E-W.

ha ha ha, i almost said the exact same thing -- and then i thought, "oh wait, no, i think i hate the Seasoned Toast Bit more" and then i couldn't decide so i didn't say anything.

but i can tell you truthfully that the only thing i enjoy eating out of the party mix is the pretzel. mmm, unalloyed saltiness... guess it's the jew in me!

I was inspired by this post to make pretzels. The results were pretty disappointing.
