what i've been up to...

it's been awhile... prepare for a lot of photographs, interspersed with some color commentary, I have been shooting alot... Some things I have shot:

Tittsworth Album Release Party @ 9:30 Club, DC:

Jesse Tittsworth

Click here to see the set. It was cool to see so many people pysched about people I know's shit. And we had a prom backdrop.

Feadz & Sweet Fred @ Sonar, Baltimore

taxlo.

sweet fred. scotty.

taxlo. Blaqstarr & Victoria (Beach House)

lauren. taxlo.

FEADZ.

Click here for the best of set... This was a LOT of fun, I hung out with Sweet Fred, this really cool guy from Sweden, earlier in the day and we discussed each other's countries...

The Kills @ the Ottobar

The Kills @ the Ottobar

Monday I saw the Kills play at the Ottobar. It was my first time seeing them, and I was actually pretty impressed... I didn't know what to expect but they were good live, though Alison seemed like she was about to collapse towards the end... understandable honestly, given how much she was rocking out. Click here for the full set. A long way from the discount days...

Ratatat @ Sonar

Last weekend I checked out Ratatat & Panther at Sonar... Click here for the full set. I wasn't really impressed with Ratatat too much but the crowd LOVED it.

Girl Talk @ Sonar, Baltimore.

Girl Talk @ Sonar.

Girl Talk @ Sonar.

Saturday I shot Girl Talk aka Greg Gillis at Sonar. It was... insane. I've never seen so many teens in one place before. Click here for the set... I think these two shots sort of illustrate both aspects of Girl Talk as I see it...

I have shot some promos for some people, and for some magazines:

This was in "b" magazine, a Baltimore daily:

emily rabbit & pat martin.

I never saw it. If you happen to have a copy, please take a picture of the spread and email it to me!

claire huxtable

I have shot a few promos lately... above is one I shot for Unruly Records' artist Claire Huxtable. Below is DC DJ Jackie O, cover shot for her new mixtape Grind:

jackie o

This is Baltimore band Scary River:

Scary River

I took photos of this DNB artist named Martyn for XLR8R:

Martyn

I was in an art show:

4th Wall

It's down now. It was fun. I am in another one in November too...

We went to the beach during a hurricane. It ruled! You might have to be my flickr friend to see alot of those pictures... Oh and we actually Went TWICE!!!

I got in a car wreck:

RIP my car :(

My car is dead. I have been in a rental for like a month! My GEICO check just cleared and I want to get a new car this week! more of the car (friends only).

I like this photo I took of my friends Dave & Jackie:

jackie & dave

I saw Martin Atkins speak to like 12 people... Kind of sad, man.

I saw Midnight Juggernauts, and Tussle, and I went to the Best of Baltimore party...

boson (velocipede)

My plants are doing ok:

my in house garden

We got logjamming pins!:

we have logjamming pins now!

Shirts next.

I got a point and shoot camera and I went to Reston for a week!

This man came home:

brad.

I've been taking lots of portraits:

jess.    anthony.
dana.    pony.

amanda.

Other things... went to a wedding, more on that later, selling recordnerd.com, working on a new killoggs concept, registered some domains, been playing lots of board games and magic cards, working on two book ideas, thinking about getting rid of my studio and getting a new studio, going to NYC next week for CMJ, going camping this weekend and that will rule hard...

Absolutely amazing pictures, Josh. Esp. that one of DJ Jackie O.
rick [email] said at 10:06 PM 10-15-2008:
    Seconded on DJ Jackie O.

I'm a big fan of Ratatat but I could see how they might not be that great live.

brandon [email] said at 10:25 PM 10-15-2008:
I think its partially the way you photograph them, but, I love the way people look in Baltimore. I want to be there. I'd probably be ignored but at least the people watching would be interesting. I'm sure there's still some trim out there willing to festoon the reformed indie dork librarian types.
ed [email] said at 12:05 AM 10-16-2008:
I have an idea for a Killoggs concept: kmail me my password? Hahaha! In case you didn't see in that other thread, and/or in case you didn't see the bounce message, my old ed@edcasting.net email address is no more. Kmail or crapcatcher at gmail dot com would both work.

Thanks!
josh [email] said at 2:08 AM 10-16-2008:
    YOU DISCONTINUED EDCASTING?!
ed [email] said at 11:04 AM 10-16-2008:
MONTHS ago. The hue and cry when I made the decision to pull the plug was overwhelming in its absence, so I'm thinking I made the right decision. Haha!
boudet [email] said at 5:11 PM 10-17-2008:
Forget all this photography. I don't know if you remember that sticker you gave me with the brain that says "Programmable" but people love that sticker. It gets comments all the time, you should put it on a shirt and make BILLIONS!!!
rick [email] said at 5:43 PM 10-17-2008:
He did that. I own one; I'm old school.
brandon [email] said at 6:25 PM 10-17-2008:
The one about making history or controling the world when we do business, with the guy and the briefcase... let's see, I think, I have it on my guitar... Nope. Huddo is Love. Anyway, that would be pretty appropriate for the times.
myriam [email] said at 9:36 PM 10-18-2008:
    Actually, I would buy this.

If you don't want to print it yourself but wouldn't mind a quick $2500, I bet you could get it onto a Threadless shirt pretty easy.
john [email] said at 12:41 PM 10-20-2008:
I've got one of those stickers lying around somewhere along with one that says, "we make history when we do business" and one that says, "the sweet science".
josh [email] said at 5:47 PM 10-19-2008:
what size are you? i may have a few left in my closet somewhere...
josh [email] said at 3:26 PM 10-20-2008:
the problem with all those stickers (besides programmable) is that i used the same clip art book that "get your war on" used, so at some point everyone started being like "oh you used the pictures from get your war on" even though we were both using clip art and mine were first. so eventually i stopped giving them out.
myriam [email] said at 9:39 PM 10-18-2008:
These pictures are fantastic. I particularly appreciate the light/shadow kind of photographic chiaroscuro style of your portraits. I can honestly say that your style is unique and eye-catching... pretty exciting to watch an artist work through his own aesthetic, incrementally, the way we've been able to here! Have you started selling any prints yet? I wonder if I could actually set you up with a buyer for a print or two here in chicago.
myriam [email] said at 9:39 PM 10-18-2008:
Forgot to mention, I think I actually like the Martyn shot the best, of the musician portraits. It makes him seem really intriguing.
josh [email] said at 5:48 PM 10-19-2008:
thanks for all the kind words, yall!
john [email] said at 12:44 PM 10-20-2008:
I was showing Myriam an LSU Gumbo a few days ago and pointing out how we are labled as "undecided freshman". I don't think any other school's yearbooks have as many pictures as ours have.
josh [email] said at 1:12 PM 10-20-2008:
me and ben abused student media SO MUCH. you know we got paid $10 per picture published? plus like $5 for every roll we shot.
anthony [email] said at 1:57 AM 10-21-2008:
God I am dapper as shit.
boudet [email] said at 12:31 PM 10-21-2008:
I saw The Kills at the Casbah awhile back. They were awesome.
