states of the union

there are 6 states i have not been to. Alaska, Hawaii, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, an Nebraska. I have seen Nebraska, and am kind of annoyed I didn't drive across the bridge (i was in iowa) just so i could check it off the list. I am sure I will hit alaska and hawaii one of these days, and next time i am in chicago, a jaunt up to madison isn't out of the realm of possibility. st. paul/minneapolis is a pretty big airline hub, so i could see getting that one without even trying eventually. north dakota has me concerned though. nothing against the place.. josh has even posted some sweet photos from there.. but, i have a hard time imagining that that will not be the last unchecked box in the list of states i have been to. i used to have a recurring dream that i was going to die in ohio. thankfully, that one is already checked off. how many states have you been to?

What is your criteria for having visited a state (mine is I had to have actually intentionally gone to a specific place in that state and actually gotten out of my car; otherwise I would have been to some of the blank states).

I keep hearing that Hawai'i is gorgeous; a guy I knew in Iowa told me I would fit in there (I am not sure what he meant by that; maybe he figured I would be a good hula dancer).

You should go visit the geographical center of North America which is in North Dakota, the Peace Garden State. Woody and Gen could meet you at the International Peace Garden.

Hmm, I'm either working my way from west to east, or from largest to smallest. There's a lot of little states on the east to visit yet.

Most of these are from taking road trips and just passing through. I need a good reason to go to Iowa.

Can you tell I've lived in CA, Pittsburgh, Boston, and Chicago? Connect up those cities... :)

Curse that little Delaware! I'll get you YET!

I am proud, however, to note that only 3 of those states are from drive thrus. The rest I've at least stayed in, toured, hung out in in some capacity. This is fun!

My 'rents made sure I got around as a kid when we went on vacation, some stuff I did myself.

I'm looking forward to revisiting a few and getting to the ones I haven't.

I've set foot in all 50 states plus DC. I've slept overnight in 49 of them (thanks mostly to work travel). All except Wyoming which has not had a pillow graced with my sleeping noggin.

Maybe you should go on a hunting trip with the Vice President. Just make sure you wear your bulletproof vest and keep the beers locked up.

The only two other states I *really* want to go to are Hawaii and Alaska. Though I would much rather keep traveling abroad at this point.
