i need to get a case and a charger for this damn thing.
i bought the wall charger that apple sells for $30 and then returned it cos i didn't like that it requires 2 cables to charge it, and then i got one on ebay from china for $8 but when i plugged it in it smelled like fire and got real hot.
it's pretty lame that they don't come with a wall charger. or a case. i want to get a clear case that will protect the screen but not make it annoying to look at.
i have the 30g ipod video one.
anybody got advice on third party cases and chargers that don't suck ass?
julie [email] said at 7:13 PM 12-19-2005: iSkin makes good skins, they're not cheap tho. As for chargers.. I will give you my docking station charger if you want it, I'm not sure it fits the video one but I think it will. My iPod is from the most recent generation, before the video ones came out.
jake [email] said at 7:33 PM 12-19-2005: You can get a direct docking cable.
Or possibly she's got one that charges through the firewire port?
It's hard for me to understand what's really going on because you didn't post any pictures. Without interesting images, you know, I just can't focus on all these stupid letters.
Bendependent [email] said at 7:44 PM 12-19-2005: i totally know what you mean.
and although tiny stupid letters technically ARE images, they just aren't that cool.
not cool, man.
not cool at all.
i'd like to have just want one cable to charge it, not one + a USB cable or + a firewire cable. i'd like to charge it the same way as I charge my phone. i don't think i have a firewire port on my PC...
brad [email] said at 2:31 PM 12-20-2005: i'm glad i read this. i bought the iSkin eVo3 for the one I just got. it's supposedly the only one for 5th generation ipods that protects the screen. thanks, julie! and if you act now, ben, you get a better, more attractive pair of hi-def earbuds 50% off! i wanted the "sonic" color, but they were out, so i went with the handsome "eclipse."
milky [email] said at 12:46 AM 12-20-2005: WE HAVE A WINNER!
(although I think be bought it from an intermediary...like a pawn broker or ebay...too much work fo' the wiley crackhead)
josh [email] said at 10:26 AM 12-20-2005: They no longer come with wall chargers, just the docking cable (which charges it). But if your PC is broken, as Ben's is, the docking cable becomes less useful I guess.
Bendependent [email] said at 4:18 AM 12-20-2005: the video ipods didn't come with a wall charger when i bought one. i got one the week they came out. they only came with a USB cable charger then. not sure if they come with a wall charger now...
myriam [email] said at 9:21 AM 12-20-2005: Mine didn't come with a wall charger either, annoying. But don't they just use the same ole cord you stick in your computer? I know it's annoying to have it be two seperate parts, but if you hook it together the one time you could just leave it like that and pretend it's one thing... use the power of your imagination!
chuck [email] said at 1:04 PM 12-20-2005: They tack on an extra $74 for painting. Winds up looking like a car finish. Pretty cool! High rolling officially over after these purchases.
brad [email] said at 2:36 PM 12-20-2005: ben, when i was at radio shack today, i saw an ipod battery that's good for like 48 hours of play without charging for around $50. kind of expensive, but you probably wouldn't have to worry about charging it when you take it on trips. also, what's wrong with your computer? can you not charge when you plug it in?
josh [email] said at 2:41 PM 12-20-2005: is this an external battery or an internal one? let me know the dealie-o.
i'd like to find a battery i can take with me on my trip to north dakota later this week so i can listen to by ipod and play my nintendo DS the whole travel time (13 hours)
