When I was a kid, I thought dragonflies were special. I'd spend long moments talking with them. They are very expressive with their eyes. Plus they can turn their heads a bit. This make them look as though they are concerned, attentive listeners.
max [email] said at 2:14 PM 07-04-2007: Yes, you are correct. It came out of that bug, called a nymph, that lived in the bottom of my pond for at least a year. The nymph has gills and eats small fish and insects. Then it comes out of the water, grows lungs, and out comes this dragonfly. I just learned all about it last night. This is new to me, and pretty cool. Glad you like it.

Insect metamophisizing is absolutely incredible.
Your pics are gorgeous. And I didn't know that was the first part of the life cycle of a dragonfly. Fascinating...
