Okay. I have a week paid vacation coming up March 25th through 30th (assuming I get retained as full time at my job). Where should I go?
So far the two front runners are: Baton Rouge and San Fran.
I was just in Louisiana, but there I could see my family, plus hang out in New Orleans. In fact I'd have to hang out in New Orleans, because pretty much everyone that I still know in Louisiana lives there now.
San Fran, I could hang out with people too, but I was there six months ago, its more expensive to get there and the people I'd be hanging with probably have, like, jobs n stuff, so I'd be on my own during the day. I could swing down to LA for part of the trip and hang out with my friend Bylly and meet up with Wil, which would be a fun sidetrip.
I could go to Chicago, but Chicago is coming here this weekend, and we're going to try and convince him to move here.
I could go to NYC, but thats really close and is sort of a bitch ass road trip.
I had tried to get Evan to meet up with me somewhere and take another roadtrip, but he claims to be broke. Anyone else have ideas?
Craig said at 9:54 AM 02-28-2002: I want to go to either Montreal or Toronto. Before that, I plan to go to Baltimore for the weekend. I am in search of Natty Bo and a Reptile Records hoodie.
A bus ticket to NYC is only $64 and it is a 4 hour trip. It is the best way to go as far as I am concerned. Driving between New York and DC sucks, and the train is too fucking expensive. Actually, flying between the two is pretty cheap. You could come here anytime. You should come up at Some point.
gen [email] said at 11:48 PM 03-02-2002: I would normally say: "Come to CANADIA" without any hesitation..... But in this case, don't. The weather is shite. There's no snow, but it's still sort of cold, so better wait till summer, the street festival season.
Nobody get excited yet, but it seems as though I will be in NYC for Easter weekend.... Though it is still so unsure at this point that I haven't even told Hannah or Mar. I should find out for sure on Monday.

Andrew said at 3:51 PM 02-28-2002: My show is up April 29th-May 5. The opening is going to be Monday April 29th, barring anything disastrous. I'll send out more stuff later.
Maybe I'll be able to check out Jenny's show. I've been thinking about taking a trip to Richmond. Some of my relatives live there.
Denee said at 1:20 PM 02-28-2002: Why are you limiting your options to only the States? It is really cheap to fly overseas (especially europe) in March. South/Central America are cool destinations.
Denee said at 3:24 PM 02-28-2002: Well, I'm not sure how to respond. I guess, we all have limitations and fears. Hopefully, with maturity and age you will find the courage to cross the border. Have fun!
xmeredithx said at 3:25 PM 02-28-2002: denee obviously does not know that poor josh suffers crippling mental disability that forever leaves him with the mentality, maturity, and body of a 7 year old.
josh said at 4:28 PM 02-28-2002: The only reason I travel is to see my friends and family (or to spend time with them while traveling). None of my friends live outside of the country so my plans don't include those places.
I would go somewhere abroad, if some of my friends were going. But it's not something I'd plan out on my own.
I almost went to France with Karrie and Kaycee to visit Deanna, but none of us had enough money.
I had planned to visit my friend Sam in England, but he illegally immigrated here and became a drug dealer before I could. If they ever catch him and deport him, maybe I'd go there. But I guess he'd probably be in jail if that happened, so maybe not. We're not that close anymore, anyway.
If Ben and Angele move to France like they are talking about, I'd probably go visit. Likewise if Mary gets that job in Paris. Similarly, if Deanna and Kaycee get to move to Japan, I'd go visit them, too. I love those girls.
I'd much rather go hang out with the people I care about, and rarely get to see, someplace I've been before than be a tourist in a new place. I hate tourists and am not all that keen on being one myself.
Denee said at 9:44 AM 03-01-2002: I agree. Traveling with friends or visiting friends is the best way to go. I have a co-worker who travels alone. She has been all over the world. It's amazing because she always seems to meet new people wherever she goes. Let me add my co-worker has a lot of friends, she is just choosing to travel on her own terms. Personally, I can't she myself traveling without a friend (unless on business). (Let me go work is calling. I have a grant deadline today.)
xmeredithx said at 11:26 AM 03-01-2002: when i went to california last year, i went by myself. i stayed with friends, but they were working most of the time. vacationing solo is actually kind of fun. plus i didn't have to worry about anyone else screaming when i wrecked the rental car on the 405.
you should definitely go to california. i wish i lived there.
andy [email] said at 1:14 PM 03-03-2002: Traveling alone can be fun too. Sometimes you just need to get away from people and explore things on your own. I did that when I was in the Northwest and I had some great experiences and met some really interesting people.
josh [email] said at 11:03 PM 03-03-2002: I dunno. The nature of my job means I spend about 40 hours a week alone in a room. Plus about another 5 hours driving to and from work, also alone. So I like to hang out with people in my funtime.
Brad [ url ] said at 11:43 PM 02-28-2002: I work mostly evenings, so if you came back to San Fran, you wouldn't be alone all of your days. And you're welcome to stay at my place as many days as you like.
