What I couldn't stand was how over the top all the ads were. All the mullet rock ("The Trans-for-MERS!") and new, sleek machines also pissed me off. I read the comicbook version, but the movie was off limits.
The viewing party went pretty well though. I regret not setting my up my collection in tribute to the occasion.
jeff [email] said at 11:18 AM 01-13-2003: When it comes to Transformers, I'm as real as it gets--that's why I refused to see the movie. It had adopted all this crappy American pop culture fluff and they were trying to migrate the focus off their old line of toys to an entirely new one. Made me want to fly out to Japan and bust some Deceptachops.

During the final competition they were playing that horribly dated song, "You're the best...around...nuthin's ever gonna keep you down" while people were karate chopped. I nearly wet 'em.

How cool would a road movie starring Starscream and Cobra Commander be? My spine chills at the thought of the shrill dialogue of their self-discovery. Y Tu Baroness Tambien?
