"Orleans Parish Prison won't you free my dark haired girl, She's tired and cold and you got the gold she took from a hungry world" - Dick Feller, Orleans Parish Prison
I had to move this month, so I missed Halloween. I'm pissed. This will be the first time in at least ten years that I didn't dress up or go to any parties. I was too busy trying to get all the shit from my old house into my new house. It sucked.

christian [email] said at 10:41 AM 11-04-2005: i missed halloween for the 2nd year in a row. it was by necessary choice but it still sucked.
last year i missed it for a fucking WEDDING. who gets married halloween weekend? if everyone was in costume it would have been awesome but it was just a normal wedding. i was stewing all weekend. until we got to the open bar
mary [email] said at 11:11 AM 11-04-2005: We went to a wedding this halloween, and it was awesome. People weren't in costume but it was very fall-like.
christian [email] said at 11:24 AM 11-04-2005: yeah they had lots of fall decorations and even a few nods to halloween which was nice. instead of table numbers they had names and we were at the goblin table, card holder in a pumpkin. BUT STILL
julie [email] said at 6:08 PM 11-04-2005: I have a friend whose goth sister got married on Halloween... in a black gown, naturally. But this was in the early 90s.

Although I did dress up and go to parties this year, the Halloween vibe just didn't seem to be in the air whatsoever. I think a big reason for this is that Halloween fell on a Monday this year. It has been late in the week for the past three or four years, which made partying easier for everyone. Last year was one of the most festive Halloween I have seen in years, due in no small part to it falling on a Sunday. Something about celebrating such a pagan holiday on the Sabbath seems to bring out the freakiest in everyone.
julie [email] said at 6:20 PM 11-04-2005: Darn! See, that's the worst. I kind of had a good costume idea, too, but it was too topical to be able to use it next year. Oh well. I now have a whole year to come up with a good idea for next year.
julie [email] said at 7:00 PM 11-04-2005: Valerie Plame/Wilson. See, only really relevant to people obsessed with DC politics... and only meaningful this month, for the most part. Well, there will be another political scandal to mock next year, or at least another outed CIA wife, I'm sure. haha
julie [email] said at 6:19 PM 11-04-2005: One good thing did happen, and that is that the door guy at my bar brought me a package of Tootsie Rolls on Monday night, just like he promised. Also, he did his face in The Crow make-up, which was hilarious to me, because he's kind of quiet and straight-laced and, well, I guess you have to know him. But it made me laugh, so Halloween wasn't the total bust that I made it out to be. But almost.
julie [email] said at 6:22 PM 11-04-2005: Also, I'm proud of myself for photoshopping that skeleton image, out of a very innocuous skeleton-with-beckoning-index-finger flash animation that accompanied an office email about a potluck dinner. Go me.
