This weekend...

Let's see... Friday I went to a suprise birthday party for one of my co-workers. I got there at the time his girlfriend had told me to be there, but they were late, so I hung out with his neighbors in the dark for an hour. Finally, he showed and all was good.

I hung out for a moment, then left to go see the last Flowers In The Attic show for awhile, since Ryan is going back to Scotland. Exosus and Roma Delenda Est also played. Opening was a metalcore band made up of 13 and 14 year old kids named Exelone. They could play very well, it was strange to see these kids that couldn't lift their amps shedding it.

After, I bailed to meet up with my friend Blake (who maintains that I am his new best friend) and the other guys from his band (and a few other people), who were having a "Boys Night Out" at this strip club named "the Night Shift", in celebration of them completing the recording of their full-length (though I don't think they actually are quite done). This place is past the harbor tunnel, which was somewhat sketchy in the first place, but when I rolled up, I was seriously considering leaving... The first view I got was from the back, I guess, and it looked abandoned and decrepid. Then I rounded a corner, which involved driving over train tracks and under two different overpasses, and saw it from the front and got a total "From Dusk Til Dawn" impression. At this point I thought I would probably get beat up by bikers if I went in, but I told Blake I would show, so I went in anyway. Right as I got in and found them, Blake was like... "Dude, you picked the worst time to get here... It's amateur hour." So, yeah... that was interesting.

We stayed for a bit, mostly talking about music stuff, then they left (since some of their party was mind-blowingly drunk), so I headed to Club Charles to meet up with Kara and her crew... It was fun, I got my name yelled at me when we walked in... The bar closed pretty soon after, so we went to Kara and Angie's place, then to 7-11 for snacks. I had intended to stay up, but as soon as I ate the glorious 7-11 snackage, I fell asleep... But not before we decorated a passed-out Angie with Irish memorabilia.

The next morning, we drove around forever looking for a place to eat. I put a whole bunch of Queen songs on the jukebox, but they turned the volume down as soon as they came on. Then we dropped into Erin Death's work, a lingerie shop, to hang out with her. Finally, I headed home, then slept some more before doing some logjamming stuff and then going to ANOTHER birthday party.

The next day I watched a pretty good spanish thriller, Thesis, then met up with Mary to see Monster at that new movie theater in DC. It was a good movie, but the theater was hopelessly disorganized. I assume they'll work it out though, this was the first weekend. After, I drove up to Baltimore again to go to Chris X's birthday party, which was chill, very low-key. I got to see his new tombstone and his collection of hip-replacements and artificial knee joints culled from cremated remains. When I got home, we cleaned up the house some, and I started to watch Sharkskin Man and Peach Hip Girl, but I fell asleep.

A fun weekend, and I even got some stuff done. This week I'm going to take it more easy and focus on some coding work I need to do for Logjamming...

I know of the night shift. It stamped out every single romantic notion that I used to hold of stripping during my teenage years. I like that it is literally on the otherside of the train tracks.

I am really not a fan of "gynecological" type strip clubs like the Night Shift. Every time I go to a strip club I imagine it being like in the movies, full of ladies wearing feathery outfits, a live jazz band playing and hopefully with some sort of rumble between an ace private eye and some torpedos.

    Hasn't happened yet.

Dang. I totally had this awesome fantasy of Ben stripping going on.

Everytime I strip, I end up covered in food items.

        food items?

mustard, mayo, rotting cheese, salsa, oatmeal, beer, whatever is on hand. If my clothes come off in a social context, smearing ensues.

In a way it's kind of like Moore's law, maybe Dinty Moore's law. It states:

for every article of clothing I shed in public, the chance that I shall be smeared with some sort of condiment or beverage or have a condiment used as a matrix to cement a dry goods to my exposed skin increases by half.

It's comforting that everytime you come to Baltimore to hang out Josh, something sketchy happens. And everytime you come to hang out with us, you find more mean things to do to me. YOU ARE GOING DOWN. You'll never have the irish pictures! ahhhhhhh, just wait till I find out about YOURRR family history, southern boy.
