today is wretched for absolutely no good reason. that bunny died and i insulted a variety of mexicans by thinking they were speaking spanish when they were talking to me in english and i have to read about greedy maniacal corporate tycoons who spend millions buying bad art rather than thousands on mine.
i just hate this minute. i miss my friends. im tired of feeling like a college dropout who dropped back in 1/2 a decade too late. plus i hate that so many people simply go crazy. i hate going crazy. it happened once and it was the worst. i would rather weigh three hundred pounds than go crazy again. anyhow. i'm just sad about the bunny..... cricket.

Professors and students often mistaken that I am the in the same age group as these self-indulgent kiddies. It's partially my fault because I don't want to alienate myself bringing lots of attention to my age. I also have a kindergarten personality and I don't exactly dress like an adult (whatever I'm implying). The main thing is that it's hard to go from being treated like a capable adult back to being treated like a bratty 18-year-old.

cricket [email] said at 12:09 PM 01-10-2003: hey thanks everyone. actually, you all do make me feel better. and yes-exactly angele and courtney. i also am confused for my early 20 counterparts. and just like you angele, i don't want to increase the already vast gulf between us. the funny thing is the reaction i get from the 18 and 19 yearolds when they find out i am 24. usually it is a moment or two of shocked silence and then a stutter of wow-ithought you were younger and i laugh and oblige them and know that they really mean that my immaturity makes me seem so much younger. what do kids these days think? that as soon as you reach 22 you blossom into some entirely together professional who never laughs or burps or forgets to comb her hair? what a dim and frightening view of the rest of your life. anyway, thanks for the support. i think i will write more on this theme in my journal...

kiche [email] said at 1:25 PM 01-10-2003: i went to usm for a year. i really hated it, but i found a lot of older students at usm when i went there (mid-90s). i was taking mainly upperclassmen english courses, though.
there were a lot of older students who commuted in. i didn't like most of the people there, though. the dorms emptied out on weekends as the occupants all ran home to be with their parents...
there's some sort of house just south of hatiesburg, right off i-59 where they have all ages shows. it was still there in early 2000. does anyone else know if this place still exists?
and you should check out ropers, just once for a laugh. people used to line dance to songs like "baby got back" there. and guys in cowboy hats would ask girls in country dresses to dance to sappy country songs.
i can't remember the name of the bar i hung out at all the time, but it's now a redneck bar...

Someone else did it and returned the drugs. I remember it was funny because you and Adam both looked at me when that girl started yelling about her meds being stolen and I told you guys anyone could pat me down, for once i was innocent (that time, yes, other times, other places...i dunno).

ropers is an anthropological outing, and i would not suggest mixing with the natives if you go.

you should check out the hatiesburg zoo.
there's also some cemetery around there with trees groing out of the graves. well, it made an impression on me...
curious things about hatiesburg, everyone refers to it as the "hub city" and go on about how close everything is together and how big hatiesburg is when it's a spread out unpopulated town. notice the bus stops all over the place. why are they there? they look like they may have even been built in the 80s.
