Remote Lounge

Last night Kiche and I met up with Schuyler and Masha and went to see my friend Haeyoung perform at the Remote Lounge. The Remote Lounge is a club in the east village that has remote video cameras everywhere with a live feed to several TV screens. In addition, there are several little stations set up where people can control various cameras by switching channels while viewing them on a screen. There is also a phone at the station, where you can signal other stations that you are watching and have a conversation with another person. Add random strangers and alcohol, and you have the makings of an interesting evening. To complete the atmosphere are video monitors displaying digital art along with the electronic sounds of various sound artists.

My friend Haeyoung is a musician/sound artist who specializes in digital music. She uses a computer, various software, and even has two gameboys with special cartridges that produces some interesting sounds. I hope to collaborate with her by making a short animation with my gameboy camera and having her do the soundtrack with her gameboy music.

I am going to include more pictures from last night in the responses section. Also, you can check out the Remote Lounge's website.

That's really great.. I wish I lived in a big cool metropolis with shit like this happening.

I imagine she was either using Nanoloop or Little Sound Dj (LSD) to make her gameboy music. I have the Nanoloop CD and it's pretty amazing what you can do. I actually went and bought a second hand gameboy classic so that I could use nanoloop, but I have to wait until they get their new shipment of cartridges. poop.

Did you get my email?
craig [email] said at 9:05 AM 06-05-2002:
I think she did have a nanollop. I am not sure though. She does have one of the classic gameboys. Does it only work on those?

I didn't get your e-mail. Did you send to craigthorn_delete_@hotmail.com?
zack [email] said at 1:45 PM 06-05-2002:
No, nanoloop works on pretty much every gameboy, except maybe the pocket one... They have a compatability list on the website.. I've heard that it sounds the best on the classic tho, and it was like 10$ used at babbages.

I used the killoggs mail button thing, but that seems to not work right.

it only works right if i have the right email address on file for someone.

Ok, did you get my last email?

Kiche and I went to those Indian restaraunts before going to the Remote Lounge! One of the cool things about the restaraunts is that you can bring your own beer.

Talice and I ate at one that had all these great christmas lights threaded through the ceiling.
kiche [email] said at 8:05 PM 06-05-2002:
yeah, that's the one (actually there are four).

shelly, you need to come here so we can bring you to doc holidays...
