That's right, Electric Light Orchestra; I am suddenly aware of the amazing genius of. I am ELOnlightened. Thanks to soundtracks like Eternal Sunshine and others, I began searching for more ELO songs and found several that are really incredibly brilliant. Maybe it's just that I was a child of the 70s, but it speaks to me in a language I forgot I understood.
Top 5 I-want-to-make-sweet-disco-hybrid-candy-love ELO songs (I've discovered so far):
Mr. Blue Sky
Livin' Thing
Strange Magic
Turn To Stone
Love Is Like Oxygen
other good ones:
Sweet Talkin Woman
Telephone Line
Can't Get It Out of My Head
Showdown
Blinded By the Light
Don't Bring Me Down
Anyone know of any that I've missed?
not the horrible: Fifth of Beethoven.
(Disco in it's lowest form. Falco's Rock Me Amadeus is a masterpiece compared to that.)

One of the first mix tapes I made in the 80s featured a bunch of ELO hits... at the same time period I purchased the greatest hits of Kansas and I highly recommend it. They are both pretty rich instrumentally...

What can I do to make you forsake the current boy of your dreams to hook up with a guy who owns (legally, even!) the entire catalog of both ELO and Kansas?
ed [email] said at 7:01 PM 08-02-2004: And now that I read further, "Blinded By the Light" was either Bruce Springsteen or Manfred Mann's Earth Band, depending on how old you are.
So I almost start suspecting that this post is bait, and I just swallowed the "MAN, that guy is OLD" hook.
cecil [email] said at 9:14 PM 08-02-2004: oh, not bait. I'm only going by what I find on limewire which is often inaccurate. Now I'm bummed that I couldn't tell pure ELO from Sweet. I am but a grasshopper.
brandonA [email] said at 1:49 AM 08-03-2004: No, Frank Black never did a version of Mexican Radio, and it is not Ella Fitzgerald who does the song 'At Last'.
