earlier this evening, in an event of bizarre chance and pothead sloth, but i guess also years of hard work and being a complete nerd (not on my part, guys!), i saw a life-long classmate on motherfucking jeopardy. not college jeopardy. real adult jeopardy, with middle-aged contestants.
i don't even watch jeopardy. it was just there when my finger stopped moving.
the diminutive indian girl looked familiar, but they all look alike, am i right? but seriously guys, she did, and there under her tiny face full of huge imposing features, "vinita"
vinita kailsanath! we went to elementary, middle, and high school together. we were never friends. she had a deadpan chirp, if you can imagine. she had this funny jerky little poise that was so confident and strange to me. she was always there in the background of my glamorous adolescence, sheathed in turtleneck sweaters, never reading too much, not being very funny, unless you understood comedy at some unfunny higher dork level.
she sat next to me in AP economics, or i sat next to her. i cheated off of her on many tests. she noticed, i knew she could tell, but her elbow never moved to cover her scantron. we had been through too much together, and been through it in relative silence. so forget it.
anyway, i'm happy for her, maybe her father has finally stopped pestering her to "go get a switch". according to
this incredible resource, her sweaters and skills are legend. big ups on the volvo, girl. no dorkwad has ever been more deserving.
