Well, this is my first post and, since I will likely forget my password, it might be my last...
I am Kaycee's 23-year old sister (though I will never be as cool as her [::shrug::]), and I am moving to the Northwest (Seattle or Portland, depending on who gets suckered into hiring me first)--- I am wondering if any of you live out there, or, as Josh mentioned to me last night, that some of you plan to be moving out there soon... I will be looking for some people to irrate and an army to attack robots with.
Read the book by Toby Young: 'How To Lose Friends And Alienate People?"
that's me.
you are welcome to check out my profile on friendster (there is only one of me)---it hasn't been updated since 2003 (or earlier), though.

They both seem to have the same amount of amenities/things to do and see/be a part of. However Portland is simply smaller and easier to navigate, which makes adventuring around by any mode of transportation much less of a hassle. I never have to fight for a parking space, the entire city is bike friendly, the interstate doesn't get as jammed up, and walking within the city proper between any two points is a totally reasonable thing to do.
Seattle does have one major advantage, and that is job opportunities. Things are pretty tight in portland for anybody not in the service industry.
THere are tons of good bars and places to eat in both towns.
Portland seems to have less Yuppie snobby types than seattle, but more hipster snobby types. A number of places (like bars/coffee shops/movie stores) in portland seem to be staffed by the apathetic 'Who the fuck are you to be asking me for something?' types who spend a lot more time styling their hair in the morning than doing their jobs - which can get annoying.
They are both good towns and the top two places I have ever lived.
