It's really cool being able to look out for 10 miles in every direction and not see a single other person. The area we were in is an old mining town. There are still remnants of old machinery, mines, buildings, trails, and artifacts from the turn of the century. We found a weather balloon and crashed jet. It's very surreal out there. I'm fortunate to be friends with some really good guides that know the area well. It's right on the border of California and Arizona near the Mexican border. We found a lot of make-shift camps used by illegal immigrants.
We had a lot of fun. I try to go out at least once a year. This was Kelley's first trip. She's mean on a four-wheeler.

I haven't done something like this in a while, but I think I will as soon as I figure out a few other things. It reminds me of when friends and I in high school used to trek through the woods to go bridge jumping or swim in a creek with a rope swing made from a downed power line.
I think it's been a good two years since I've been on a four-wheeler. I know I almost killed a friend of mine in elementary school when I tried to ramp one off a pile of sand.
I went camping out at Arches national park a few years back, so I know of the innate beauty that comes with seemingly total desolation.
