Is getting a passport terribly difficult? I need to do that very soon and know nothing about travel abroad.

Apart from the photo and actual documentation, is there anything that I need to know about going to England that will be helpful to me? I have 2 months to spare before I leave. I will be staying for as long as my savings can allow, or before they see me kicked out of the country.

Also, I was told last night that I sound like a Canadian. That will be helpful, I think.
